Rolling Sector Migration & Orbital Storage Guide

Overview: The Great Migration. The winds of Avesta are shifting. Due to incoming and deadly Siro Spore storms, islands within the Eilo Archipelago now have a 3-week lifespan before becoming completely inhospitable.

To ensure the safety of your Seedlings, Seed Industries is implementing a rolling sector migration protocol. When a new sector opens, you will have exactly 1 week to migrate your Seedlings and belongings before your current sector is permanently destroyed.

Planned upcoming Migration Dates:

  • February 26th: The new sector opens! The migration window begins.
  • March 5th: The current sector is destroyed. Anyone and anything left behind will be permanently lost.

⚠️ Important: Update Changes & What NOT to Pack ⚠️

The new sector brings game balancing changes and revamped crafting trees. Because of these changes, bringing everything with you is not recommended!

The Fresh Start Challenge: We highly encourage you to treat this migration as a fresh start! To properly test the new balancing, we recommend leaving your machines behind. Pack your favorite Clothing and Furniture to get a headstart on your basic needs.

Obsolete Machines: If you do choose to bring machines, be aware that the following machines are obsolete in the new sector and will no longer function. Please leave these behind:

Algae Processor

  • Before: Algae Processor
  • Now: Food Processor
  • Change: Same machine, only name change

Furnaces/Smelters

  • Before: Basic Furnace (removed)
  • Now: Two new machines available/craftable:
  • Frontiers Compact Smelter (replaces Basic Furnace - same recipes)
  • Brick Furnace (different advanced furnace - different recipes)
  • Change: Basic Furnace removed. Replaced by Frontiers Compact Smelter which can craft the same items. Brick Furnace added as separate advanced option.

Anvil

  • Before: Workshop Anvil (removed - had 5 basic recipes)
  • Now: Basic Anvil (has 28 recipes including all Workshop Anvil recipes)
  • Change: Workshop Anvil removed. Basic Anvil already existed and has expanded functionality.

Step 1: Securing Your Belongings (Orbital Storage)

To ensure you don't lose your hard-earned items, materials, and furniture during the move, you must utilize Orbital Storage.

Spaceport
Spaceport
Note: This feature is only accessible via a Spaceport.

How to use Orbital Storage:

  1. Locate a Spaceport: Ensure your current society has constructed a Spaceport (a society structure found in the Real Estate Market).
  2. Transfer Items: Open the Properties or Business Panel for the building holding your items. Go to the Inventory tab, select the item, and choose the option to move it to Orbital Storage.
  3. Persistence: Items placed in Orbital Storage are saved "off-planet" and will be available to you once you arrive and gain access to a storage container in your new society.
  4. Recovery: To retrieve your items from Orbital Storage - you will need a Spaceport in the new society.

Step 2: The Migration Process

Once your items are safely stored in orbit (and you've decided whether to pack heavy or take the "fresh start" challenge), you can move your Seedling.

You have two primary options for continuing your journey:

  • Follow Your Leader: Wait for your current Society Leader to establish a new society in the destination sector and migrate your Seedlings there to maintain your community.
  • Found/Join a New Society: Move independently to a new sector to start a society or join one already in progress. (Note: Founding a society is quite an undertaking and should not be attempted alone. It’s better to go together!)

How to Migrate:

  1. Visit the Society Kernel: Locate the Society Kernel and guide your Seedling to it.
  2. Initiate Migration: Left-click the Kernel, select "Inspect", and then click the "Migrate" button in the inspector panel.
  3. Choose Destination: Select the new sector and the society you wish to join, or start your own!

Important Considerations

  • Migration Costs: While we have Rolling Sectors cost for forced migration to the new sector is 100% free! However, should you choose to migrate again independently of Siro Spore infestation - migrations will cost 5 Pollen per Seedling.
  • Property: Only items in your Seedling Inventory or Orbital Storage will travel with you.
  • Timing: Do not wait! Move your valuable resources to Orbital Storage a few days in advance to avoid a last-minute rush before the sector is lost!
