Growing Your Society: Longer-Term Goals
Growing your society: longer-term goals
Once your Seedling has the basics covered, it's time to think beyond survival.
Upgrade your food and water
Raw algae and murky water will keep your Seedling alive, but they're not a long-term solution. With an upcoming release murky water and lower tier foods can make your seedling sick.
Work your way up the crafting chain:
Water: Build a water pump as soon as you can to secure a steady supply of murky water, then craft a water filtration unit to turn it into clean water. Producing clean water is one of the first Society Goals you'll need to hit to advance to Camp tier.
Food: Craft algae paste as an early upgrade, then push toward bread — a key milestone for reaching Settlement tier. Better food keeps needs satisfied longer, which means less time managing and more time building.

Check the Object Catalogue (book icon, top-right corner) to explore the full crafting chain and see which machines and materials each recipe needs.

Sort out your storage early
The Kernel fills up fast. As soon as resources are coming in consistently, move things out into proper storage containers. A Large Container holds 1,800 volume — more than double a standard storage platform — so one of those goes a long way.
Set priority rules on your containers to make things predictable: one for food, one for water, one for building materials. Your Seedlings will route resources more reliably and you'll spend a lot less time hunting for things.
Follow the Society tier progression
Your society advances through six tiers, each unlocking new features, roles, and population capacity:
Expedition (10) → Camp (15) → Settlement (25) → Town (50) → City (100) → Metropolis (500)
Early tiers are about survival and basic infrastructure. Later tiers unlock businesses, elections, and laws. Don't worry about all of that now — just keep completing Society Goals and the progression will guide you.
